Sesame Street Announces ‘Parody Party’ Album Featuring Pop Hits

“P” is for parody, and that’s good enough for us! Billboard can exclusively reveal that Sesame Street is putting the building blocks together to release an adorable album featuring kid-friendly parodies of some of pop music’s biggest hits. The upcoming collection, titled Parody Party, is set to arrive on July 26 and is distributed by Warner Music’s Arts Music.

The seven-song album features three previously released satirical send-ups alongside four brand-new tracks. The lead single is Cookie Monster’s “Take a Bite,” a playful take on Bruno Mars’ Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 hit “I Just Might.” In the accompanying music video, the beloved cookie enthusiast croons about the perfect way to bake treats, singing, “Me not going to wait, me gobble up entire plate, hey!”

A Musical Education

The tracklist for Parody Party offers a variety of educational and fun themes:

  • “Where Is My Lovie?” features Abby Cadabby, Cookie Monster, and Elmo performing a take on RAYE’s “Where Is My Husband!”
  • “Go for the Gold” is a version of the hit “Golden” by HUNTR/X, focusing on the power of teamwork.
  • “Got to Go” serves as a potty-training anthem based on Chappell Roan’s “Hot to Go!”
  • The album also includes Taylor Swift’s “Shake It Off,” reimagined by Oscar the Grouch as an ode to recycling.

Sesame Street has always been at the forefront of popular culture, using music as a powerful way to connect with each new generation,” said Aaron Bisman, svp and head of marketing for Sesame Workshop. “Parody Party marks an exciting new chapter in Sesame Street’s musical history and reinforces our ongoing commitment to creativity, innovation and cultural relevance.”
