Richie Hawtin releases first solo EP since 2000

Richie Hawtin made an EP in lockdown.

Time Warps, which spans two tracks and more than 30 minutes, is the techno artist’s first solo EP since 2005. It’s the debut release on From Our Minds, a new sub-label of his seminal Plus 8 outlet. The digital version is out now, with the vinyl to follow on Friday, December 4th. The latter, produced by Deepgrooves Vinyl Pressing Plant in The Netherlands, is made from 100% recycled material.

“After 30 years in the music industry and with the state of the planet, I believe we need to consider the environmental impact of petroleum-based music formats,” Hawtin says. “I’m still committed to releasing a limited-edition vinyl for those who choose to enjoy their music using this format, however, I believe that our community needs to be more sensitive with their vinyl strategy.”
