• A future rave track with melodic essence
• Charming vocal delivery
• Summer midtempo twist in the build-up

TurnItUp Muzik often times releases compelling releases, and if one is willing to dig deeper in their catalog, they will strike upon gold. I am talking about phenomenal records such as “Psyche” by Blackcode, Arsen and Joye Mill, or the more recent “My Rhythm” by Alannys Webet and DNMKG. There’s enough to relish, even if the rest of the material doesn’t appeal to me as much. “Expect The Unexpected“, the label’s self-proclaimed motto, seems to be a good bearing for them.

For today, I will specifically focus on “The Devil Inside“, a catchy collaboration between Monroe, Jordan Grace, and Chester Young. I only knew the latter thanks to a couple of releases on Revealed, and an old review of mine (I think) of “Pyro” with Castion, so I wasn’t prepared for this.

And the results? Entertaining as it gets! A Future Rave formula with a melodic essence rather than just delivering a powerful bassline: not the most unique concept ever, but well realized. A quality vocal performance from Jordan Grace decorates the breakdown, further enriched by a summer midtempo twist in the final buildup. After a couple of repeats, I started to get captured by the patterns, which are deadly effective in the long run. From what I see, this is mostly a touch from Monroe, who specialized in this very cadent subgenre. “I Need You” from him is equally appreciable, if you are looking for similar vibes after listening to this one.

So, my recommendation goes to “The Devil Inside”. It’s not an extraordinaire production as we receive other typical submissions, but the execution itself remains excellent and the commitment made to the melody is stunning. I couldn’t much figure out Chester Young’s Bass House in there, but that is another story.
