Nancy Sinatra Criticizes Donald Trump for Unauthorized Use of ‘My Way’

Nancy Sinatra has joined the growing list of artists and estates who have publicly requested that Donald Trump cease using their music in his political messaging. The singer-songwriter expressed her frustration over the weekend after the former president posted a video on his Truth Social platform featuring her late father, Frank Sinatra, performing his signature 1969 ballad, “My Way,” at Madison Square Garden in 1974.

The controversy began when a social media user tagged Nancy Sinatra, noting that her father would likely be unhappy with the association, given his history as a champion for equality and the Civil Rights movement. Nancy Sinatra responded directly to the post, stating, “This is sacrilege.”

When asked by followers if there were legal avenues to prevent the unauthorized use of the song, Nancy Sinatra clarified the limitations of her control. “Unfortunately no,” she replied. “The only people who can do something are the publishers.” The rights to the song are currently held by Because Music and Primary Wave.

This is not the first time Nancy Sinatra has voiced her political opposition to the former president. She has been a vocal critic throughout his career, previously describing him as a danger to the country. Her recent comments align her with a broad coalition of musicians—including artists like Beyoncé, Foo Fighters, and Neil Young—who have taken issue with their music being utilized in political contexts without their consent.
