Cornelius announces new album ‘Ethereal Essence,’ shares title “Sketch for Spring”
Cornelius has announced a new album, Ethereal Essence, which will be out out June 26 via Warner Music Japan. “I gathered songs that have an ethereal feel from the various purposes for which they have been produced over the past few years and I decided to make one album,” Cornelius says. “With the current strange situation in the world and the stressful social life, I feel comfortable with something that fits into the introspection and spiritual world.” The album includes a cover of Ryuichi Sakamoto’s “Thatness and Thereness.”
The first single is “Sketch for Spring,” the title of which is a nod to The Durutti Column‘s Vini Reilly, who Cornelius says is his favorite guitarist, and notes it was “written for the background music in the tube of PARCO, a cultural complex in Shibuya.” Listen to that below.
Cornelius will be in North America for a West Coast tour in September and those dates are listed below.
