ZNZBR – Anywhere

ZNZBR – Anywhere

77%Overall Score

• Groovy, oldschool sound with a twist
• Unusual release, nonetheless appreciated
• Tech House influences in the drop

It’s been a while since we explored the interesting releases from the guys at Intensity Recordings, but things are going pretty well. Among a plethora of solid festival releases, I’ve selected “Anywhere” by ZNZBR because of its unique sound. Mixing old-school House elements with a slight Tech House attitude and a sweet vocal, this track caught my attention.

The creator has some fascinating remixes supported by names like Dannic, Fedde Le Grand, and Promise Land, and a nice release on Groove Cartel Records called “Move Your Body“. From his Progressive House roots, the Tel Aviv-based creator is evolving his style into something very interesting.

It’s a difficult vibe to categorize, but the nostalgic attitude of the track left a mark on me, as the outcome made me think about Size Records and its groovy Progressive/House tracks. There is also an experimental twist at the end of the first drop, where the lead becomes glitchy and more oriented towards Tech House, featuring a wobbling bass that leaves a surprising effect.

To be honest, the vocal loop enchants at first because it adds a soft touch to the composition, but becomes a bit repetitive after several listens to “Anywhere.” Nonetheless, I had a good experience listening to this track. It was a breath of fresh air while listening to many underground releases of other genres during my day.

“Anywhere” is a great pick for Intensity as it shares its festival-oriented nature, but also presents a niche style with its own twist and a captivating structure. If you like to be surprised and are looking for unpredictable sounds, this is your suggestion.
