Tangerine Dream unveils new box set, Pilots Of Purple Twilight, collecting early '80s work
Pilots Of Purple Twilight focuses on the Edgar Froese-led German group’s output from 1980 through 1983. It features remastered (and newly remixed) versions of Tangram, Thief, Exit, White Eagle, Logos Live and Hyperborea, plus the first-ever release of the band’s score for Michael Mann’s 1983 film The Keep. Single-CD reissues for the main albums will be available separately as well.
There are also highlights from other soundtracks like The Soldier and Risky Business, including “Love On A Real Train,” the group’s most commercially successful song.
In addition to collecting the band’s albums and soundtrack work, Pilots Of Purple Twilight also features unreleased studio and live material, including a full concert in London from 1982.
Pilots Of Purple Twilight is the second in a series of career-spanning sets, following last year’s In Search Of Hades, which covered the group’s 1973 through 1979 output, including their legendary 1974 album Phaedra.
