Streamland picks: Omar-S, Monster, Louie Vega, Octo Octa

Seeking some online musical adventures this weekend? Here’s our rundown of what’s happening in Streamland over the coming days.

Thursday sees Refraction Festival start its two-week run. The team behind Vancouver’s New Forms Festival will bring DJ sets, installations, audiovisual performances and more to your browser, with great artists like DJ Stingray, Amazondotcom, Roza Terenzi & D. Tiffany and Omar-S slotting into the musical programme.

Polish label Oramics is celebrating its third anniversary on Friday with a multi-day event. They’ll showcase some of the most interesting electronic music that Eastern Europe has to offer, with sets from Monster, Olivia and Poly Chain. Stick around on Monday and Tuesday for workshops and a panel discussing the present and future of the Eastern European scene.

On a more intimate note, Good Room residents L&L&L Record Club lay down five hours of grooves from the Bad Room, while house and techno faves like DJ Tennis and DJ Holographic beam tunes from Germany and both US coasts as part of Factory 93‘s Secret Project stream.

Classic house fans should look Stateside on Saturday for their fix. NYC Reset brings East Coast all-stars Louie Vega, Tony Humphries and Victor Calderone to your living room for a blissful evening, while Roy Davis Jr broadcasts the soul of Chicago as part of the virtual edition of Toronto’s long-running Beaches Jazz Festival. For some more broad-ranging sounds, tune into the first of a series of monthly exchanges between community radio heavyweights Rinse FM and Seoul Community Radio, with four rising South Korean artists slated for round one.

If you’re keen to charge through on Sunday afternoon, don’t look past San Francisco’s Quaran-Tea Dance. Combining Octo Octa‘s relentless positive energy behind the decks with Jasmine Infiniti‘s playfully hellish take on techno is enough to give anyone a second wind. Money raised on the day will go towards the SF Bay Area Queer Nightlife Fund.
