Moor X Jewelry record new album, True Opera, live in a studio

Moor X Jewelry, AKA Moor Mother and Mental Jewelry, are releasing their debut LP via Don Giovanni.

Recorded live in a studio, True Opera follows Moor X Jewelry’s 2017 EP, Crime Waves. The ten-track LP pivots away from the dark, lo-fi sound of their previous release, with Moor Mother performing guitar and vocals, and Mental Jewelry on drums and bass.

“We grew up going to punk shows and playing in punk bands,” Mental Jewelry says. “We missed the energy of playing instruments live together. On a computer everything is accounted for. This has all of the imperfections and flubs—it’s more of a direct conduit.”
