Maluma Expecting Second Child: ‘The Joy Is Very Different’

Colombian global superstar Maluma has shared the heartwarming news that he and his girlfriend, Susana Gómez, are expecting their second child. The artist, who recently announced the pregnancy on Mother’s Day, provided an exclusive update to Billboard, confirming that the couple is preparing to welcome a baby boy.

Reflecting on the experience, the singer—born Juan Luis Londoño Arias—noted that this pregnancy has felt distinct from the arrival of their first child, Paris Londoño Gómez, who was born in 2024. “It’s a boy,” he shared with Billboard’s Leila Cobo. “We’re still thinking about the name, but we have many options. The joy is very different from the first pregnancy.”

A Private Journey

Maluma managed to keep the news private for the first five months, a decision he says was rooted in prioritizing his family’s well-being. “First and foremost, for the sake of health at home,” he explained. “It felt lovely to enjoy a large part of my partner’s pregnancy without having to think about other things—simply being with my family.”

The announcement on Sunday (May 10) featured a touching Instagram post showing Gómez’s baby bump, with their two-year-old daughter, Paris, tenderly kissing her mother’s stomach. This news arrives just as the 32-year-old artist prepares for the release of his seventh studio album, Loco X Volver, which drops on Thursday (May 14).

The Significance of a Son

For Maluma, the upcoming birth of a son carries a special weight, particularly regarding his family’s heritage. “This is a very old-school way of thinking, but my grandfather and dad are absolutely thrilled because the family name is going to live on,” he admitted. “For my grandfather, that is incredibly important… for me, family is very important, and if Grandpa is happy, that makes everything in the family circle work.”

As he balances his burgeoning music career with the expansion of his family, Maluma remains focused on the personal growth that has defined his recent work. With a new album on the horizon and a son on the way, the artist is entering a new chapter of his life with a renewed sense of purpose.
