Key South Korean venues reopen this weekend after coronavirus-related closures
After closing their doors for about one to two months during the coronavirus pandemic, Faust, vurt., Modeci and Beton Brut+Concrete Bar are reopening tonight, with Volnost following on Saturday.
Faust’s and vurt’s reopening announcements list multiple requirements for admission. “No mask, no entry,” Faust says, while vurt. also asks people to “fill out the access records for epidemiological investigation in case of a confirmed case of coronavirus,” and says those who have travelled abroad, had COVID-19 symptoms and been in spaces with confirmed patients in the last 14 days are prohibited from entering the venue.
These reopenings follow news that many clubs in China are also back in business after lockdowns have lifted. Nyshka Chandran spoke to venue owners and staffers, promoters and DJs from Chengdu, Shanghai, Shenzhen and Beijing about the slow return to normalcy—read her in-depth report.
