How to watch Kendrick Lamar & SZA’s Super Bowl Halftime Show: TV, free livestream, more
Super Bowl LVII is this Sunday (February 9) with the Philadelphia Eagles taking on Taylor Swift’s boyfriend’s team, the Kansas City Chiefs, and even if you aren’t a big football person, it’s worth tuning in just to see the Halftime Show with Kendrick Lamar and special guest SZA. It’s the second Sunday in a row that the two of them will be on national television–last week, Kendrick took home all five Grammy awards that his Drake diss track “Not Like Us” was nominated for, and SZA took home Best R&B Song for “Saturn”–and it comes ahead of the pair’s co-headlining stadium tour. It also follows the release of three collaborative songs between Kendrick and SZA from the past few months, “Luther” and “Gloria” from Kendrick’s album GNX and “30 For 30” from SZA’s album Lana. It’ll be Kendrick’s first time headlining the Super Bowl Halftime Show but second time performing at it; he also played in 2022 alongside Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, and others.
The game (and halftime show) goes down at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans. If you have cable, you can watch the game on Fox starting at 6:30 PM ET, and if you don’t, Tubi is hosting a free livestream this year. It’ll also be streaming on Fubo, DirecTV Stream, Sling TV, YouTube TV, and Hulu with Live TV.
For more on what to expect from Kendrick’s halftime show, he gave an official press conference presented by Apple Music and also did an interview about his performance with Timothée Chalamet, both of which you can watch below.
“Being in the now and being just locked-in to how I feel and the energy I have now, that’s the L.A. energy for me,” he said during the press conference. “That’s something I wanted to carry over to New Orleans and for the world to see. This is me. This is Kendrick Lamar, 37 years old, and I still feel like I’m elevating, I’m still on a journey.” When asked what people can expect from his performance, he replied, “Storytelling. I think I’ve always been very open about storytelling through all my catalog and my history of music. And I’ve always had a passion about bringing that on whatever stage I’m on.”
He also spoke about why he’s excited to be sharing the stage with SZA. “For me personally, watching her, you know, her career and where she’s come from, it’s amazing to see,” he said. “I get to finally see how certain individuals see me come up in the process. I understood that process, though, of wanting to be great.”
As for what songs they might play together, in addition to their three new collabs, they’ve done a few others over the years: “All The Stars,” “Doves In The Wind,” “untitled 04,” “Easy Bake” (also with Jay Rock), and “Babylon.” And in addition to SZA, will there be any other guests? Kendrick has collaborated with countless artists, so the options are nearly endless.
Other musical performers at the big game include Jon Batiste singing the National Anthem, Trombone Shorty and Lauren Daigle performing “America the Beautiful,” the Human Jukebox Marching Band from Louisiana HBCU Southern University playing during the pre-game show, and Ledisi performing “Lift Every Voice and Sing” at the pre-game. The pre-game show starts on Fox at 1 PM ET and airs all the way up through kickoff.
And last but definitely not least, the Super Bowl is just as known for football and the halftime show as it is for the commercials, many of which debut online ahead of the game now. Musician cameos in this year’s Super Bowl commercials include Charli XCX, Post Malone, Doja Cat, Shaboozey, Seal (as a seal), and more. You can watch some of those below too.
After the Super Bowl, Kendrick and SZA will rest up for a couple of months before beginning their co-headlining stadium tour on April 19. The tour hits the NYC-area on May 8 and 9 at MetLife Stadium. All dates are listed below.
