Cypress Hill played Brooklyn Steel with The Pharcyde & Souls of Mischief (pics, setlist)
Just in time for 4/20 on Saturday, Cypress Hill have embarked on their “We Legalized It” spring tour, where $1 from each ticket sold is donated to the Last Prisoner Project, and they stopped in NYC on Friday night (4/19) at Brooklyn Steel. Souls of Mischief opened the night, backed by DJ Lazy Boy, followed by The Pharcyde, who were accompanied by DJ Cell. They dedicated “Runnin’” to the late J Dilla, who produced the song, and also made a dedication to their late mentor, Reggie Andrews.
DJ Lord warmed the crowd up for Cypress Hill, and was joined first by Bobo to play percussion, then Sen Dog and B Real. B Real shouted out Chuck D and the Bomb Squad for putting Cypress Hill’s debut single, “How I Could Just Kill a Man,” in the 1992 film Juice, which led to them blowing up on the East Coast ahead of their hometown in CA. He also pointed out that they, The Pharcyde, and Souls of Mischief were all celebrating the 30th anniversaries of albums.
