Berlin club [ipsə] damaged in fire

Berlin club [ipsə] (pronounced “Ipse”) was damaged in a fire Monday, April 27th.

The blaze, which started around 5 AM, spread across an area of approximately 400 square meters, according to the Berliner Feuerwehr Twitter account. The location was Schleusenufer in Kreuzberg, just across the canal from popular party spot Club der Visionaere, which was also hit by a fire in June last year.

Speaking to Groove magazine, [ipsə]’s manager said the club “has not been completely destroyed.”

It’s still unclear how the fire started. Around 80 firefighters, one of whom ended up in hospital with injuries, were working on the site, which was under control by 1:30 PM, Der Tagesspiegel reports.
