Aaron Bay-Schuck Reflects on Mo Ostin’s Legacy at Grammy Hall of Fame Gala

Warner Records took center stage as the label honoree at the 2026 Grammy Hall of Fame Gala, held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills on May 8. The evening served as a poignant celebration of the label’s storied history and its ongoing commitment to artist development.

Accepting the honor, Aaron Bay-Schuck, co-chairman and CEO of the Warner Records Group, reflected on a pivotal moment early in his tenure. He recalled a lunch with the late, legendary Warner executive Mo Ostin, during which he sought the “cheat code” for maintaining the label’s status as a global powerhouse.

“I asked him how he so successfully kept Warner as the most exciting label in the world decade after decade,” Bay-Schuck shared. “He told me, ‘There is no secret. Create the environment where your artists feel supported and protected, give them the space to experiment, to succeed and to fail, and create a culture at the company where people feel inspired, collaborative and proud to represent.’”

Bay-Schuck noted that receiving the award felt like a validation of that philosophy. He was joined on stage by his partner, Tom Corson, co-chairman and COO of Warner Records Group, whom he credited as an essential collaborator on their journey. The gala, which marked the third consecutive year of a label-specific tribute, featured performances by Awards-season favorites and Warner mainstays Teddy Swims and Josh Groban.

Looking back at the label’s heritage, Bay-Schuck emphasized the importance of prioritizing vision over data-driven trends. “When we took over the leadership of Warner Records in 2018, we knew we needed to reposition the company for the future, but we wanted first to approach that by acknowledging the past,” he said. “This is the home to Prince, Madonna, Jimi Hendrix, and so many more. These superstars were fearless, unapologetically themselves. They took risks.”

Corson echoed these sentiments, emphasizing that the label’s success is a collective effort. “This award belongs to the entire Warner family,” Corson said. “We’re standing on the shoulders of giants tonight. Everything begins and ends with our artists.”
