29 New Songs Out Today

So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.

ICE SPICE – “THINK U THE SHIT (FART)”

Ice Spice already has a trademark style and it’s in full force on “Think U the Shit (Fart).”

MEGAN THEE STALLION – “HISS”

Megan Thee Stallion is sounding extra fired-up these days. “Cobra” was a real rager and the similarly snakey “Hiss” follows suit.

SHENSEEA – “HIT & RUN” (ft. MASICKA & DK GENIUS)

Shenseea has a real knack for pop-dancehall anthems that get stuck in your head on one listen, and “Hit & Run” is one of those.

MILITARIE GUN – “WILL LOGIC” (ft. MANNEQUIN PUSSY) & “WHOOPS I OD’D” (NOFX COVER)

Militarie Gun have just released the Life Under the Sun EP, with reworks of four songs from last year’s Life Under the Gun, three of which feature guests. The Bully and Manchester Orchestra collabs came out already, but here’s the stripped-back version of “Will Logic” with Mannequin Pussy, plus the EP’s acoustic NOFX cover.

SARAH SHOOK & THE DISARMERS – “REVELATIONS”

“I wrote ‘Revelations’ about navigating the rough terrains of mental health with my then-partner while he worked a back-breaking manual labor job, while I toured 150 days a year and obsessively recorded music, and about how we barely made ends meet despite having killer work ethic,” River Shook says of the title track of their new album. “People who live paycheck to paycheck are some of the hardest working folks out there, and being broke all the time isn’t always due to laziness or lack of effort. I wrote Revelations for working-class people and creatives trying our damndest to live good lives and get through the day as best we can.” Revelations is out on March 29.

MAXO KREAM – “BANG THE BUS” (prod. EVILGIANE)

Houston rapper Maxo Kream is back with a new single, and it finds him rapping over a woozy, pitched-up sample of Frou Frou’s “Let Go.” It was produced by Evilgiane, who also released the new project #HEAVENSGATE VOL. 1 today.

JAMES VINCENT MCMORROW – “STAY COOL”

Irish singer / songwriter James Vincent McMorrow signed to Nettwerk and shared his first single for the label, “Stay Cool.” “I have lived the last few years amongst a span of trees,” he says. “There was something comforting in hiding, but it was obscuring the places I wanted to go, and it was obscuring me. For me, the winter is when things begin. All the songs and records I’m most proud of have either been created or released during the winter months. You’ll listen to this song and hopefully know what it’s about, emerging from trees, trying to be open again.”

COALTER OF THE DEEPERS – “MELODY” (BORIS COVER)

Tokyo shoegaze/noise pop vets Coaltar of the Deepers have covered a song by their neighbors Boris, and they gave it a cool twist.

BRITTANY HOWARD – “PROVE IT TO YOU”

On TikTok, Brittany Howard wrote that she was “really proud” of “Prove it to You,” continuing, “It’s different than anything I’ve ever done but felt like a cornerstone of this new record.” WHAT NOW is out next Friday (2/2) via Island.

BRUISE CONTROL – “NO MORE”

If you like hardcore-tinged UK punk, check out this new ripper from Bruise Control.

KACEY MUSGRAVES – “THREE LITTLE BIRDS” (BOB MARLEY AND THE WAILERS COVER)

Kacey Musgraves’ new cover of “Three Little Birds” is from the soundtrack to new biopic Bob Marley: One Love, out in theaters on February 14. It’s directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green and stars Kingsley Ben-Adir as Bob and Lashana Lynch as Rita Marley.

TYLER HALVERSON – “TAKES 8”

Rising, prolific country singer Tyler Halverson hasn’t released an album yet, but he continues to drop singles left and right, and his first single of 2024 is the hard-charging “Takes 8.”

SHA EK – “OYK”

Bronx rapper holds nothing back with the aggressive, shout-rapped drill of “OYK.”

GREED WORM – “MACHINE LEARNING”

Chicago’s Greed Worm are prepping a new record called Ritual Onslaught for this spring via Protagonist Music, and lead single “Machine Learning” is chaotic, metallic hardcore that fans of Converge and Botch should feast their ears on.

GLAIVE – “HUH”

glaive follows his 2023 Interscope-released debut album i care so much that i dont care at all with new single “huh.” It’s a good example of glaive’s catchy emo-rap and it keeps his momentum going.

CKAY – “MYSTERIOUS LOVE” & “IS IT YOU?”

With Valentine’s Day on the way, it’s good timing for CKay’s two new Afrobeats/R&B love songs.

KAONASHI – “WE GOT ONE”

Kaonashi’s concept discography continues with new EP The 3 Faces Of Beauty: A Violent Misinterpretation Of Morgan Montgomery. Alongside its release comes a video for “We Got One,” one of the EP’s most chaotic post-hardcore songs.

DICKIE LANDRY – “HANG THE RITCH” (JD TWITCH EDIT)

Dickie Landry was an original member of the Philip Glass Ensemble but also made dance music on his own. This track, recorded in 1986, has just been released by DFA Records as a 12″ featuring a sweet edit by DJ Twitch on the flipside.

SKEPTA – “GAS ME UP (DILIGENT)”

Grime great Skepta is looking to make 2024 his year of return, with appearanes at Coachella and other festivals and this new single which was produced by Cardo. New album Knife and Fork is due later this year.

LIL NAS X – ““WHERE DO WE GO NOW?”

New documentary Lil Nas X: Long Live Montero debuts on MAX this weekend, and follows “the genre-breaking artist as he navigates the pressures of his meteoric rise to stardom.” It also features this new Lil Nas X song.

LIAM GALLAGHER & JOHN SQUIRE – “MARS TO LIVERPOOL”

Oasis‘ Liam Gallagher and The Stone Roses‘ John Squire have detailed their anticipated self-titled debut album, which will be out March 1. “I can’t wait for people to hear the album,” Liam says. “I think the people that are into the Stone Roses and Oasis and that kinda thing, I think they’ll fucking love it.”

TR/ST – “BEING BORING” FT JAKE SHEARS”

Back in December TR/ST, the musical alter ego of Robert Alfons, announced he’d signed to Dais Records and released “Robrash,” his first song in four years. Now he’s surprise-released a self-titled EP which includes that song, three other originals and this cover of Pet Shop Boys’ classic featuring Jake Shears of Scissor Sisters.

NUBYA GARCIA – “FORTIFY”

UK jazz trailblazer Nubya Garcia just put out her first proper single sine 2020, “Fortify,” and you can read about it here.
