Donald Trump Offers to Perform at Freedom 250 Concert Himself
As America prepares to celebrate its 250th anniversary on the Fourth of July, the Freedom 250 concert series—marketed as the “Great American State Fair” on Washington, D.C.’s National Mall—is facing significant logistical hurdles. With several high-profile artists withdrawing from the lineup, Donald Trump has suggested he may take the stage himself.
After five of the originally announced performers pulled out, citing concerns over the event’s nonpartisan claims, the former president took to Truth Social on Saturday to address the situation. In a lengthy post, he wrote, “I understand artists are getting ‘the yips’ having to do with their performance on Wednesday, so I am thinking about bringing the Number One Attraction anywhere in the World… to take the place of these highly paid, Third Rate ‘Artists,’ and give a major speech, rallying the Country forward.”
A Series of High-Profile Withdrawals
The Great American State Fair’s lineup was initially announced on May 27 by Freedom 250, a self-described nonpartisan organization. The roster included Martina McBride, Flo Rida, Vanilla Ice, Young MC, C+C Music Factory, Milli Vanilli, the Commodores, and Bret Michaels.
However, the event quickly became mired in controversy. Morris Day and the Time were among the first to distance themselves, with Day posting on Instagram, “It’s a no for me.” Similarly, Bret Michaels announced his departure on Friday, stating that the event had “evolved into something much more divisive than what I agreed to be a part of.” He cited safety concerns and unfounded threats as primary reasons for his exit.
The Future of the Freedom 250 Concert
Despite the exodus of talent, some artists remain committed to the event. Vanilla Ice confirmed his participation through his management team, noting that he is proud to celebrate the country’s 250th anniversary. Meanwhile, Fab Morvan of Milli Vanilli also stated he would perform, emphasizing his desire to “entertain and unite people.”
Trump, for his part, remains undeterred by the criticism. In his social media statement, he ordered his representatives to explore the feasibility of hosting an “AMERICA IS BACK” rally at the same time and location, declaring, “Only Great Patriots invited — It will be a Wild and Beautiful Celebration of America!”
