Travis Kelce Confirms He’s ‘Coming Back’ to Chiefs for Taylor Swift-Lucky 13th Season

Swift Decision

“I can’t go out like that,” he wrote to Pat McAfee of his flop performance at this year’s Super Bowl

Hear ye, hear ye: Travis Kelce is coming back to the NFL for at least one more season. On Thursday, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end confirmed that he’ll be playing his 13th — yes, Taylor Swift’s lucky number — season with the team.

Kelce confirmed to ESPN’s Pat McAfee Thursday that he’s “coming back for sure” after floating the possibility of retiring. Kelce later confirmed the news with a meme on the Kelce brothers’ podcast New Heights‘ social media pages: “From the desk of @tkelce: ITS TIME FOR YEAR 13,” read the caption.

“Going to try and get into the best shape that I’ve been this offseason and get back to the mountaintop,” Kelce told McAfee via text, who read the message on ESPN. (McAfee joked it was a message from his source.) “Got a real bad taste in my mouth with how I played in that last game and how I got the guys ready for battle. I can’t go out like that.”

Kelce will enter the second of a two-year deal with the Chiefs, with whom he’s played for the entirety of his career. He’s won three Super Bowls after the 2019, 2022, and 2023 seasons for the Chiefs and will now chase his fourth.

Kelce has been dating Swift, the biggest pop star in the world, since late 2023. The 14-time Grammy winner has been by the football player’s side through his 2024 Super Bowl win and this year’s loss. Swift popped out at numerous games throughout both seasons in between Eras Tour shows, and even flew straight from Japan to Las Vegas after wrapping her final concert in Tokyo last year to watch Kelce play at Super Bowl LVIII.
