Seven ‘Theft Group’ Members Charged in Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce Home Burglaries

Criminal Charges

The individuals have been charged with conspiracy to commit interstate transportation of stolen property for allegedly stealing more than $2 million in valuables from NFL and NBA athletes

Seven Chilean individuals have been charged in connection to recent burglaries at the homes of NFL and NBA athletes, including Kansas City Chiefs players Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes. According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Middle District of Florida, the collective belongs to a “South American Theft Group” and faces up to 10 years in federal prison if convicted on charges of conspiracy to commit interstate transportation of stolen property.

The group ranging in age from 20 to 38 allegedly stole more than $2 million in valuables from the targeted residences while the athletes were away at games. Kelce and Mahomes’ homes were burglarized within days of each other in October 2024 during a home game. Similarly, players for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Milwaukee Bucks, Cincinnati Bengals, and Memphis Grizzlies were hit between October and December.

The unsealed criminal complaint includes an image of four people — three of which have been charged — posing beside a stolen safe and eight watches. The athletes lost jewelry, designer watches, cash, firearms, suitcases, and more. Each incident resulted in the theft of property ranging in value from $300,000 to $1.4 million.

In November, ABC News reported that police were able to recover a watch stolen from Kelce’s home in Leawood, Kansas during the October burglary. The watch was reportedly located in Providence, Rhode Island during an investigation into a string of burglaries. Leawood Police recalled being contacted at 1:36 a.m. and told that $20,000 was missing and a rear door was broken. Milwaukee Bucks forward Bobby Portis stated in November that a number of his “prized possessions” were stolen during a home invasion that occurred while he was at an away game in Ohio.

The complaint charges Pablo Zuniga Cartes, 24; Ignacio Zuniga Cartes, 20; Bastian Jimenez Freraut, 27; Jordan Quiroga Sanchez, 22; Bastian Orellano Morales, 23; Alexander Huiaguil Chavez, 24; and Sergio Ortega Cabello, 38 with conspiracy to commit interstate transportation of stolen property.
