Bruno Mars Will Join ‘Fortnite Festival’ as Season Nine Icon

Bruno Mars is entering the gaming world. On Tuesday, Fortnite announced that the musician will be the next icon for Fortnite Festival, debuting on the Main Stage for Season Nine, which starts June 18.

A digital version of the music star will be available as a playable character, with a skin featuring his outfit from the “Die With a Smile” music video — complete with Stetson Hat — designed by Astrid Gallegos. Mars’ character will also bring on some new action items, including the heart-holster Dreamer’s Two-Shot Back Bling, and a new emote inspired by Mars.

Premium items inspired by Bruno Mars include the Last Reprise Guitar, modeled after the one he plays in the “Die With a Smile” music video, along with several other Mars-themed in-game collectibles. His collaboration with Lady Gaga, as well as “APT” with Rosé, will be available as jam tracks in the shop, while “Bruno-San’s Theme Song” and Silk Sonic’s “Leave the Door Open” are featured in this season’s Music Pass. The Music Pass also includes outfits from some of Mars’ most iconic music videos.

Fortnite Festival has featured pretty massive stars as icons in past seasons, including The Weeknd, Billie Eilish, Lady Gaga, Snoop Dogg, Karol G, and Sabrina Carpenter. (“My avatar is for sure height appropriate, as Fortnite characters are all around six foot three, which is actually how tall I am in real life too,” Carpenter joked to Rolling Stone about her skin last year.)
