Tokyo Machine & Saxsquatch – Cantina

83%%Overall Score

• Impeccable synergy between two funny personnages
• Beloved melody is still present
• Homage to the legendary Star Wars scene

Even if there are higher chances that this article will be uploaded after 4th of May, I won’t mind as I am a huge fan of Star Wars franchise, and thus deserves a worthy EDM tribute. Reputed Tokyo Machine and the mythical figure Saxsquatch teamed up to remake one of the most iconic song from the saga, done so in an amazing team-up which combines the best of both producers involved.

The original essence feels untouchable due to its iconic presence in the pop culture, and this track surely must have been in the radar of a Slap House remake (already feel the bitter taste uttering it). Fortunately instead of that predicament occurring, we have an original work with a funky touch, obviously placed by Tokyo Machine, as we can hear his retro elements all through the composition, and of course, Saxquatch’s best weapon: his mighty saxophone.

Riser incorporated in this brims with energy (and the music video is an honorable tribute the precursor films) with an opportunity for the megalithic Saxsquatch to show his power and let us know that the track is driven by both the producers. While the giant from the woods remade the historic riff, Tokyo made sure to add some fantastic funky ingredients to a composition that was in dire need of this to become extremely catchy.

Coming to the breakdown, it leans towards Tokyo’s preferred arrangements along with Saxsquatch’s cadence. The combination made is a match made in heaven, and would surprise anyone who had lower expectations for this modernization.

“Cantina” justifies the fact that renovating vintage pieces of art need not be a worse thing after all, and perhaps even breathe more life into it. This is a great throwback for the newer fans who are enthralled by the said universe and lore. Anticipating that both the creators have more such ideas in their talented minds!
