Timmy Trumpet – Vivaldi (ft. Mariana Bo)

• Suitable for clubs
• Not-so-dynamic drop but effective
• Mariana carries all the weight

Waiting for Tomorrowland to release anything remotely interesting requires a huge effort. Their label was one of those cases where they had their ups and downs, yet more of the latter. This time, their newest single seemed to be a potential hit, involving two esteemed figures in the current scene. Mariana’s involvement got me interested mostly (Timmy’s chameleonic abilities in a synergy seem to suit most genres, although his recent appreciation about NFTs is polarizing to me). Anyways, “Vivaldi” is more than obviously an homage to a baroque musical piece, penned by perhaps the most prestigious Italian personage to have ever been involved in musical composing, Antonio Vivaldi.

As my Italian colleague regards Vivaldi highly, I recommended him to listen to this, because it is a rework of “Summer” from the 18th century impresario. Onto matters of nowadays, the Mexican act Mariana Bo carries all the production weightage with her violin, and it is simply lackluster to put her merely as a “featured” artist. The melody increases in its BPM in comparison to the original one and swaying in funky rhythms from the Australian alias, it does sound surprisingly ear-pleasing.

On this occasion, Timmy must have spun his fortune wheel of genres and agreed on “Future Rave”. The breakdown is a tad insignificant candidly, although the drop packs the steam to blow off with powerful kicks and a futuristic groove. The opera vocals fit amazingly in context, creating a pleasant mood nonetheless. The sudden and abrupt change of mood in the breakdown, from a heightened classical to a buzzing festival build-up did sort of crushed my expectations, despite the second drop being more Trance-y and danceable than the one before.

By far, the worst part of “Vivaldi” (excuse my blunt directness) is its closing seconds. Why did they decide to arrange a build-up in the finale which clearly felt like rushing towards a quick round of third drop? It was amusing, and in its entirety, I did enjoy “Vivaldi”. Everything is spun around Mariana Bo’s violin prowess and serves as a great tribute to the legendary composer. The sudden mood shifts, however, were distracting from a grandiose atmosphere
