• Cover of the beloved hit
• Plastik might seem shy, but takes revenge in the Club Edit
• Elegant ambiance by Dario & Ivan

When the folks over at Revealed sent me the preview, I read “21st February” as the release date in the email so… I’m writing this review in a hurry. Perhaps it will turn out more genuine because I am literally writing down my initial feelings and impressions about “Sweet Harmony”, the cover of the Beloved hit.

This marks an unusual occasion, for Revealed’s standards, yet this time I will try to appreciate the variety: because (take note everyone) it’s interesting. Plastik Funk, one of the newest additions to Hardwell’s main label, brings along two Italian DJs, Dario Trapani and Ivan Cappello with the talented vocalist Sh3. The press release barely mentioned the two co-producers (Dario and Ivan) involved, something I didn’t like. For that, I am taking my time for exploring their works as well, since we all know who PK is (“Who” with Tujamo and so on).

The pair seems to have a common friend in Leandro da Silva, with a couple of joint releases on Spinnin’, alongside the few catalogue of House-y releases on minor labels, “Black Lizard” being the most prolific one. Being not a huge fan of the genre, I appreciate how “Sweet Harmony” sticks to this “relaxing Italian vibe”, for which I want to give some credit. Plastik Funk’s presence is hard to make out at first, but he takes his time to show off with a special club-friendly version, paired with the original version.

I am evidently more into Plastik’s Funk Bass club edit, which picks up the original mix (featuring a delicate piano) and distorts everything into a growling drop. Constant changes occur as pitch shifts and pauses to make it an experimental sequence, while the groovy break remains intact.

So, hardcore fans can directly go for the Club Edit, which infuses creative thinking into a surprising drop, albeit if you have a few more minutes to spare, “Sweet Harmony” offers a delectable mood that I wasn’t expecting from Revealed.
