Back again on Revealed? I lost my interest on Hardwell’s label because of the sloppy amount of generic Future and Bass House being uploaded (special shout-out to the QR Network’s research!). Dr Phunk, after KAAZE, remains as one of the reliable artists in Revealed’s roster for his massive Hardstyle tunes and this time around, he tried to bring some Happy Hardcore vibes to the imprint that otherwise begs for more festival music.

“Sign Or Warning” is a bouncy song, with an ear-grabbing melody and a not so heavy drop alongside robust kicks to satisfy fans. The lyrical and vocal aspects share the same quality, although I didn’t understand the meaning of the lyrics entirely. Anyways, we need to talk about the retrowave inspiration.

Yes, this record leans much towards the retro sound, clearly seen on its video-clip and noticeable from the first moment. Containing a pulsating rhythm, the bassline provises for a usual formula of percussions. Effective, the choice made by the Dutch artist isn’t half bad. The drop might not come off as hard as expected, yet the danceability is plenty to motivate a workout session with low-pitched kicks and energetic melodies!

Dr Phunk seems insistent on turning over a new leaf for Revealed Recs with his production tactics. I was missing this sort of work in the main roster, especially coming from a reputed name known for consistency!
