Colin Farrell Rises to the Top in New Teaser for The Penguin: Watch

Colin Farrell has risen to the top of the food chain in the new teaser trailer for Max’s The Penguin, an upcoming spinoff series set in the universe of Matt ReevesThe Batman. Watch the clip below.

In The Batman, Farrell’s The Penguin served as a lieutenant to Gotham City criminal kingpin Carmine Falcone. Following Falcone’s demise in the film, The Penguin looks to fill the void.

The teaser features Farrell giving a speech about his motivation for becoming a gangster, as he recalls a bigshot from his neighborhood named Rex Calabrese. “He was a big deal,” The Penguin says. “He helped people. If he saw you on the street, he’d call out to you. When I’m 14 or somethin’, he has a heart attack and dies, still holdin’ a cigar.”

He continues by remembering the respect shown for Calabrese after his death: “In my neighborhood, they throw a parade in his honor. A friggin’ parade. And it wasn’t fancy, but it was the gesture. The show of love, of what he meant.”
