Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar Receiving IMAX Re-Release for 10th Anniversary
Christopher Nolan’s 2014 sci-fi epic Interstellar is receiving an IMAX re-release for its 10th anniversary this fall, Paramount Pictures announced at CinemaCon on Thursday.
Interstellar will be shown in Nolan’s preferred IMAX 70mm format and digital screens. Paramount will work with Warner Bros. to bring the movie back to theaters.
Last summer, Nolan explained the advantages of IMAX 70mm in an interview with The Associated Press, saying the format was the “best possible experience” to take in future Best Picture winner Oppenheimer due to its “unparalleled” sharpness, clarity, and depth of image.
Starring Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, and Jessica Chastain, Interstellar was directed by Nolan, who penned the film with his brother, Jonathan Nolan. Set in a dystopian future where astronauts travel across space to find humanity a new home, the movie earned more than $700 million in the global box office. It was nominated for five Oscars, taking home the award for Best Visual Effects.
