Makes My Blood Dance Dive Deep Into Timing and Emotion on “Time and a Place”

Makes My Blood Dance aren’t just building songs these days, they’re building an entire universe. With their latest single “Time and a Place,” the band steps into one of their most introspective spaces yet, trading explosive theatrics for slow-burn tension, emotional nuance, and a groove that hits with purpose. It’s a track that shows the project’s evolution in real time.

For EV0 and Jon Kristian, this chapter isn’t about softening their edge, but sharpening their intention. What began as a spark in the studio with producer Bret Epic Mazur turned into a meditation on timing, connection, and the beautiful chaos of being fully alive. The result balances vulnerability with impact, intimacy with power, and raw feeling with polished production — a combination fans have already latched onto as the video climbs past 600K views.

As the band prepares to unveil their full album in early 2026, “Time and a Place” stands as both a tonal shift and a defining marker: a reminder of the risks they take, the stories they tell, and the electricity they bring to every stage. We sat down with EV0 to dive into the origins, process, and emotional weight behind one of MMBD’s most revealing releases yet.

  1. “Time and a Place” hits with a very specific kind of weight — reflective but still powerful. What moment or feeling first sparked this song for you?

EV0: Time and a Place is a reminder that there is NOT always an ideal moment to connect, you’ve gotta take risks and be alive (in my world that’s all the time – which is why I have Jon Kristian to balance my insanity with his stoic Jedi mindset). “At the end of the hall 2 kids just kiss in the dark, maybe that was us in the middle of the fire-alarm”.

  1. The track sits in that sweet spot between emotional storytelling and tight, heavy production. How did you balance vulnerability with impact during the writing process?

EV0: Our producer Bret “Epic” Mazur wrote the groove for this track.  It was sort of something he was showing me during the recording of this record and I immediately jumped on it.  Jon and I fleshed it out and wrote the rest of the song and Bret also loved our approach.  He (Bret) actually sent it to several songwriters and I heard some of the versions that came back, ours was clearly the best and now it’s our number one music video on Youtube.  Bravo Bret and team!

  1. There’s a steady, slow-burn tension running through the song. Was that intentional from the start, or did the mood shift as you built the track in the studio?

EV0:  The steady burn and groove are definitely a massive part of the vibe and what makes this song so attractive.  We just followed Bret’s lead on that and I added the melodies and lyrics.  We are very aware of dynamics as well so it definitely still has that explosive chorus but a real smooth verse.

  1. Compared to your past releases, “Time and a Place” almost feels like MMBD taking a breath. Did making this record reveal anything new about your sound or yourselves?

EV0: This is the first co-write we have done actually, everything up until now has been myself and Jon Kristian.  The entire record was a transformation for us though.  The full album will be out early 2026 and that will be the real taste of what MMBD has evolved into (in the studio, live is a different beast altogether).

  1. Fans have connected to the lyric about timing — when something feels right but life doesn’t line up. Was this song written from personal experience, or does it come from observing those moments in others?

EV0: They are ALL personal experience, actually I should be open because there are infinite influences, however, yes.  It’s personal because I’m a bleeding heart musician and need to self manage my desire to connect, elevate and be in the zone.  It’s a place that we thrive, especially live, but balance is a real thing in life and I surround myself with people who can help me in that way (without suffocating or stamping on my creative mojo).

  1. The production feels clean without losing its human edge. What details did you pay the most attention to when shaping the sonic mood of this track?

EV0: I have to give a lot of credit to Bret “Epic” Mazur and Mikal Blue – both had a big hand in shaping our sound.  I will say that Jon and I have leveled up big time and record near studio ready demo’s in our home studios AND we road test these songs for months on the road, so we really know our craft before entering with the heavyweights.

  1. “Time and a Place” is emotionally heavy but never melodramatic. How do you decide when a song has said enough — and when to hold back?

EV0:  Great question but that’s borderline overthinking it, I let it flow. Seeing lyrics on paper is different from singing them and you have to do both.  I evolve my delivery on the road as well and honestly the whole process is so exciting.  I’m always bothering Jon Kristian about new songs, sounds, and having the content flowing….makes me happy.

  1. You’ve released songs with bigger, louder drops and more cinematic fire. What made you choose a more restrained, introspective approach for this one?

EV0:  We like dynamics, MMBD is not a one trick pony.  Our album is a trip and even the newer stuff we have written keeps breaking the mold.  We experiment with instrumentation, electronic sounds, different patterns and time signatures and outfits….hahaha.

  1. If “Your Little Hand In Mine” was the world-building moment, “Time and a Place” feels like the inner monologue.Does that dynamic reflect where the upcoming album is heading?

EV0:  Your Little Hand In Mine is one of the most vulnerable songs we have written. It came from a beautiful moment and I think of it often.  That’s all I have to say, when you listen it will create your beautiful moment.   We partnered with Black Eye Media for the video, which is an incredible visual journey – check it out on Youtube now.

  1. And for the fans already replaying this track — where does “Time and a Place” sit in the larger story of the project?A bridge, a turning point, or a statement piece?

EV0: It’s a banger live, the video is near viral right now with 600K views in 7 months and climbing and I think it really is an excellent introduction to Makes My Blood Dance both sonically and visually.  The video furthers my obsession with Dancing with the Stars meets our version of gothic cabaret and there is more to come in our future efforts.
