Watch Lucy Dacus play a new song, bring out Julien Baker as her surprise Brooklyn Steel guest (pics, video, setlist)

After cutting her Sunday show short due to illness, Julien Baker played a makeup show on Tuesday night (10/8) at Brooklyn Steel. She had promised a “surprise interlude by a special guest” to open (along with Katie Malco, who also opened all the Webster Hall shows) and that wound up being her boygenius bandmate Lucy Dacus (who had come out on Sunday night to tell the crowd the show was over). Lucy played a few older songs, debuted a new song (which she said was “for the lesbians” after wishing the crowd a Happy International Lesbian Day), and had Julien join her for “Going Going Gone” and “Night Shift.”

Julien, closing the night, focused her set on her full-band Little Oblivions material, and also played some older songs with their newly fleshed out full band arrangements. She worked in a solo performance too, of Sprained Ankle track “Something.”

See pictures from Julien and Lucy’s sets by Dimitry Mak, both of their setlists, and attendee-taken video below.

Also below are belated pictures by Emilio Herce from Julien’s second Webster Hall show, with Katie Malco and The Ophelias (who Julien joined for “Neil Young on High”).
