The Smile cancel tour after Jonny Greenwood hospitalized for infection
The Smile have cancelled their European tour after Jonny Greenwood was hospitalized, having become “seriously ill from an infection.” He’s on the mend now, but on doctor’s orders, he’s been told to “cancel all engagements” until he’s been able to make a full recovery. Feel better soon, Jonny, and see all cancelled dates below.
The Smile released their second album, Wall of Eyes, this year, and it’s one of our favorites of 2024 so far. Stream it below.
Jonny’s Radiohead and The Smile bandmate Thom Yorke recently released the score for Confidenza, and that’s out today (7/12) in physical formats. Thom also has solo shows scheduled in New Zealand, Australia, Singapore, and Japan this fall.
THE SMILE ON CANCELLATION OF EUROPEAN TOUR:
A few days ago, Jonny became seriously ill from an infection that needed emergency hospital treatment, some of it in intensive care. Mercifully he is now out of danger and will soon return home.
We have been instructed by the medical team in charge of Jonny’s care to cancel all engagements until he has had time to make a full recovery. To that end, The Smile tour of Europe in August is cancelled.
Refunds for headline shows will be available from your ticket provider.
We all wish Jonny a speedy recovery.
