22 New Songs Out Today
So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.

KATY PERRY – “WOMAN’S WORLD”
After multiple clips and teasers, Katy Perry has officially shared “Woman’s World” and announced her new album, 143, due September 20 via Capitol. The album features production from Dr. Luke (who worked on “Woman’s World”), Max Martin, Stargate, and others, and the new song comes with a Charlotte Rutherford-directed video that plays on the song’s patriarchy-flipping themes.

PICTUREPLANE – “VELVET LIES”
“‘Velvet Lies’ is part of a new collection of music I’ve been making where I’m entering into some new sonic realms and really just enjoying myself and being free,” Pictureplane says of his new single, which arrives ahead of his tour with Small Black.

NELLY FURTADO – “CORAZÓN” (ft. BOMBA ESTEREO)
Nelly Furtado has announced her seventh album, 7, due September 20 via Nelstar/21. It features her clubby Tove Lo/SG Lewis collab “Love Bites,” as well as the just-released “Corazón,” a Latin pop song featuring Colombian band Bomba Estéreo. “I first felt the energy of what Corazón would become on a trip to Colombia with a couple of friends,” Nelly says, “and then I kept on recording and four years later I have an album, and it’s really always about the journey, honestly.”

ICE SPICE – “DID IT FIRST” (ft. CENTRAL CEE)
Ice Spice has shared the latest single from Y2K, a revenge anthem aimed at a cheating partner with help from fast-rising UK rap star Central Cee.

ANGÉLIQUE KIDJO – “SUNLIGHT TO MY SOUL”
Angélique Kidjo collaborated with Diane Warren and Nigerian afrobeats producer Shizzi on her new single, the feel-good “Sunlight To My Soul,” which also features the Soweto Gospel Choir.

MAVI – “I’M SO TIRED”
Charlotte, NC rapper MAVI has shared the second single from his upcoming album Shadowbox, and this one finds him delivering some of his most emotional, personal bars yet over an orchestral, drumless backdrop.

LL COOL J – “PASSION”
LL Cool J has announced his first album in 11 years, The FORCE (which stands for “Frequencies of Real Creative Energy”), due September 6 via Def Jam/Virgin Music Group. The whole album was produced by Q-Tip, and it features recent single “Saturday Night Special” (ft. Rick Ross & Fat Joe), plus songs with Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Nas, Busta Rhymes, Saweetie, and more. Along with the announcement comes new single “Passion,” which finds LL and Q-Tip in pretty fine form.

SOPHIE POWERS – GLITCH: LVL 1
Sophie Powers’ new EP, Glitch: Lvl 1, is out today via Atlantic Records/TAG Music. “If Vanellope Von Schweetz from Wreck-It Ralph had a playlist, it would be this EP,” she says. “Full of fast paced hyperpop, industrial and pop-punk sounds, it’s the perfect record for summer ’24.”

PARANNOUL – “PAINLESS”
South Korean shoegazer Parannoul follows “Gold River” (and a collaborative album with Fax Gang) with another new solo single, the woozy, noisy, and beautiful “Painless.”

DEAL WITH IT – THAT JUST AIN’T ME EP
Atlanta hardcore band Deal With It specialize in short, fast hardcore songs, as you can hear on their new EP for Delayed Gratification.

MESHELL NDEGEOCELLO – “THUS SAYETH THE LORDE”
No More Water: The Gospel of James Baldwin, the new album from Meshell Ndegeocello, is out next month, and she’s given us another early taste with “Thus Sayeth the Lorde,” which references Audre Lorde. “There’s a YouTube video of Baldwin with Nikki Giovanni,” Ndegeocello told Ari Shapiro on All Things Considered. “Watching that I could see that Baldwin had to work a little bit on his feminism. So within the project, we wanted to add another voice. And I think Audre Lorde just fits within that continuum of information and knowledge.”

GRAFH & 38 SPESH – “ROCAFELLA CHAIN” (ft. MEMPHIS BLEEK, FREEWAY & PEEDI CRAKK)
Grafh and 38 Spesh have announced a collaborative project, God’s Timing, due August 2. The lead single is called “Rocafella Chain” and it features three Roc-A-Fella vets, Memphis Bleek, Freeway, and Peedi Crakk. Fans of ’90s/2000s New York rap, take note.

Jhayco has been dropping singles and seemingly teasing a new album, and his latest is the hard-hitting reggaeton banger “3D.”

MAREN MORRIS – “I HOPE I NEVER FALL IN LOVE”
Maren Morris’ new EP Intermission is out on August 2 via Columbia, and she’s shared another single from it, “i hope i never fall in love.” “‘i hope i never fall in love’ is the afterglow of a shitshow,” she says. “It’s a bittersweet heartbreaker because I’m in self-protection mode but still want to feel things. So throwing parties, going home with a stranger, popping champagne, whatever we need to do to process our trauma, it’s not a pretty road to healing. I, of course, do want to fall in love again, but I can’t put my heart through it just yet, so here’s a number about this strange but constructive (and destructive) window of my life.”

THE GOODWIN CLUB – “SEE ALL COLOR”
Orange County ’90s-era ska-punk vets The Goodwin Club are working on a new album called Join the Club for Wiretap Records, and its new single “See All Color” is a refreshing, upbeat song that fits right in with the current ska-punk resurgence.

For more ska-punk, Omnigone (ex-Link 80) have shared another taste of their anticipated third album Feral, and this one’s a gritty, skank-inducing ripper “about questioning man’s twisted desire to treat women like second class citizens.”

Melbourne band Delivery make that snarling postpunk you associate with the Total Control universe and yes TC’s Mikey Young mastered “Digging the Hole” which is their first release for UK label Heavenly.

ALISON MOYET – “SO AM I”
Former Yazoo singer Alison Moyet will release KEY on October 4 and here’s her new version of “So Am I” which was originally on her 1994 album Essex.

MUSCADINE BLOODLINE – “TICKETS TO TURNPIKE” (ft. KYLE NIX)
Nashville-via-Mobile, Alabama country duo Muscadine Bloodline have shared a new song, “Tickets To Turnpike.” As you probably can guess from the title, it’s an ode to country cult heroes Turnpike Troubadours, and it features Turnpike’s own Kyle Nix on fiddle. “This song is special to us because we have always looked up to Turnpike Troubadours,” the duo says. “Over the years we have been able to cross touring with them off our bucket list. It means a great deal to have Kyle Nix from Turnpike on the track as well. Seemed very fitting and makes it that much more special to us.”
