Watch Vampire Weekend play “Gen X Cops” and “Capricorn” on SNL
Last night was the penultimate episode of Saturday Night Live‘s 49th season and it featured former cast member Maya Rudolph as host and Vampire Weekend as musical guests. As to the latter, they played “Gen X Cops” and “Capricorn” from their great new album Only God Was Above Us. Watch those below.
Maya Rudolph, of course, brought music to show herself. The opening monologue turned into an awesome house dance jam, “I’m Your Mother” in celebration of Mother’s Day; she played Beyoncé once again facing off against the wings of death on Hot Ones. Maya and Keenan Thompson also reprised their “love” singing duo T.T. and Mario characters in a sketch that was cut for time but you can watch it and more from last night’s SNL below.
Next week is the SNL season finale with host Jake Gyllenhaal and musical guest Sabrina Carpenter.
Vampire Weekend’s tour hits NYC this fall for shows at Madison Square Garden on October 5 and 6 with Billy Joel tribute band Turnstiles on both dates, plus Mark Ronson on night one and The Brothers Macklovitch on day two.
