Olivia Rodrigo Makes Surprise Coachella Appearance During Addison Rae’s Set

A Surprise Coachella Moment

Olivia Rodrigo made an unannounced appearance at Coachella on Saturday, taking the stage during Addison Rae’s set to deliver the live debut of her latest single, “Drop Dead.” The surprise cameo added a high-energy highlight to the festival’s weekend programming.

Toward the end of Rae’s set, the singer was performing her track “Headphones On” when she paused following the lyric, “I compare myself to the new It Girl.” At that moment, Rodrigo emerged on stage to the delight of the crowd.

The Live Debut of ‘Drop Dead’

Following their duet on “Headphones On,” Rae stepped back to allow Rodrigo to take the spotlight. Rodrigo utilized the moment to perform her new single, You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love, live for the very first time.

While Rodrigo has not yet headlined her own Coachella set, she has established a history of surprise appearances at the festival. In 2024, she famously joined No Doubt during their reunion set to perform “Bathwater.”

Looking Ahead

“Drop Dead,” a track heavily influenced by the Cure, was released this past Friday. Rodrigo shared her enthusiasm for the song on Instagram, describing it as the “first chapter in the story” of her upcoming project, You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love. Fans have already begun referring to the project by the abbreviation GSIL, which is set for a June 12 release via Geffen Records. Before the album drops, Rodrigo is scheduled to appear on Saturday Night Live on May 2.
