Linkin Park Announce Greatest Hits Album, Unleash Previously Unreleased “Friendly Fire”: Stream
Linkin Park have announced their new career-spanning greatest hits album, Papercuts (Singles Collection 2000-2023), out April 12th via Warner Records. Ahead of its release, they’ve shared “Friendly Fire,” a previously unreleased song featuring vocals from the late Chester Bennington.
The tracklist for Papercuts ranges from early hits like “In the End” and “Somewhere I Belong” to later songs like “Castle of Glass” and “One More Light” to rarities like “QWERTY.” The album will be available on all digital platforms and CD, cassette, and various vinyl variants, including a Zoetrope picture disc and limited edition colors. Pre-orders are ongoing.
Earlier this week, Linkin Park teased “Friendly Fire,” a synth-driven track recorded during the 2017 One More Light sessions. “We’re falling apart for no reason/ We’re pulling the trigger in a useless war,” Bennington sings. “If we go back and go into the black/ What are we fighting for?” Watch the music video, directed and edited by longtime collaborator Mark Fiore, below.

Speaking about the track, guitarist Brad Delson said, “Friendly Fire’ was always one of our favorite songs from the One More Light sessions. Something about it wasn’t quite right so as close as it got to the finish line, we chose to set it aside for later. When we started looking for an unreleased track to include on our greatest hits collection, I was blown away by the power of the song, the power of the storytelling, the power of the vocal, the sonic landscape and I actually thought that it was closer than maybe we had realized at the time.”
Delson continued, “We got together to work on it and connect some of the missing pieces that for whatever reason hadn’t revealed themselves during the recording of One More Light. I can’t wait for people to hear it. It’s such a beautiful, compelling, heartbreaking, hopeful story and it really resonates with me today.”
Papercuts follows Linkin Park’s 2020 Hybrid Theory 20th anniversary box set and last year’s Meteora 20th anniversary box set. The latter collection included the previously unreleased songs “Lost” and “Fighting Myself.”
