Black Junglist Alliance launches community portal to promote Black participation in jungle and drum & bass

The Black Junglist Alliance will launch a community portal with the aim of “uniting Black artists, professionals and creatives from the world of jungle/drum & bass.”

The BJA was founded by Inperspective Records head Chris Inperspective, who has been openly critical of Hospital Records and the whitewashing of the UK drum & bass scene. (Read Inperspective’s opinion piece for DJ Mag, Black People Should Own Black Art.)

On August 1st, the Black Jungle Alliance will launch a platform called BJATV, a YouTube channel which aims to unite and showcase Black artists working in jungle and drum & bass. “Many other genres of music have a online platform that solely reflects their community through culture, experience and knowledge e.g. SBTV or UKG,” says BJA member Caldey Muffett on the need for BJATV.

In the Instagram video announcing the launch, Inperspective says, “Send us your music because we want to give you a platform for Black artistry and Black excellence to be represented through the medium of jungle and drum & bass.”
