Watch The Babies bring out Katie & Allison Crutchfield for “Meet Me in the City” at final show of reunion run in Brooklyn ++ Elsewhere pics
The Babies, the early-2010s group led by Kevin Morby and Cassie Ramone, wrapped up their two-city, four-show reunion run on Tuesday night at Brooklyn club Warsaw. By all indications these four shows have been a total joy for both the band and the audience, and that was definitely the vibe on Tuesday night as they stormed through songs from their two albums with giant smiles on their faces while much of the crowd sang along. What a treat.
The Babies had a surprise for the encore, which was also a treat: Waxahatchee‘s Katie Crutchfield and her sister Allison (who together were P.S. Elliot) came out to help sing “Meet Me in the City” which had the whole place going bananas. You can watch video of that below.
Near the end of the show Morby thanked the crowd, in awe of these shows (two in LA and two in Brooklyn), noting that all of them were bigger than any The Babies’ played during their original run, and that Warsaw was the biggest of them all. He said he was not sure if or when they would play again but was very glad they happened. You could see a glint in his eye while he said it, so hopefully this won’t be the last we see of The Babies.
Opening the show at Warsaw was Joanna Sternberg who was charming and definitely had appreciative fans in the room but was maybe just a little too quiet for Tuesday’s chatty crowd. The night before at Elsewhere, Jeffrey Lewis opened.
