Watch Pulp & fans sing happy birthday to Jarvis Cocker at 2nd Hollywood Palladium show (video, pics, setlist)

Thursday night was Jarvis Cocker’s 61st birthday, and he celebrated, in part, by playing a show with his band, Pulp, at Hollywood Palladium, which was their second night in a row at the venue. After opening the show with “I Spy,” the rest of the band then led the crowd in a traditional version of “Happy Birthday” and brought out a cake. Jarvis blew out the candles and the band immediately launched into “Disco 2000.”

This birthday party also had balloons, which were unleashed for “Common People” at the end of the first encore, but the festivities had already included “Sorted For E’s & Wizz,” “Babies,” “Do You Remember the First Time?,” “F.E.E.L.I.N.G.C.A.L.L.E.D.L.O.V.E.,” “This Is Hardcore,” “Underwear,” and more. The second encore opened with new song “Spike Island” that has now been played four times across North America, then “Mis-Shapes,” and things closed as usual with “Glory Days.”

Watch video of “Happy Birthday” and a few other songs from Hollywood Palladium Night 2 by Stephanie F Black, along with the setlist, below. Pulp wrap up their North American tour on Saturday (9/21) at Hollywood Forever Cemetery.

After the show, Jarvis shared a picture of his birthday cake which was inscribed in piped frosting with a quote from Pulp song “Dishes” (“I an not Jesus, though I have the same initials”) and “Happy Birthday, Jarvis!” Check that out below as well.
