Watch Militarie Gun cover Hüsker Dü’s “Makes No Sense At All” with Bob Mould

Militarie Gun and Bob Mould were both in Champaign-Urbana on Saturday (9/21) for the annual Pygmalion Music Festival, and the former Hüsker Dü co-leader ended up joining Militarie Gun on a cover of the Hüskers classic “Makes No Sense At All.” Militarie Gun’s Ian Shelton writes:

Last night we had the honor of being joined by @bobmouldmusic to perform Husker Du’s classic “Makes No Sense At All”

Late last year I had been told by multiple people Bob was telling people he was an MG fan, so since we were both in town for @thisispygmalion we had to ask him if he would get up and do a song with us. Thank you Bob!!

According to Setlist.fm, it was Militarie Gun’s first time covering “Makes No Sense At All,” but if you’ve seen MG live in the past couple years, there’s a good chance you’ve seen them cover Hüsker Dü’s “Don’t Want to Know If You Are Lonely.” Talking to us about covering Hüsker Dü last year, Ian said, “I felt like it was such a good reference point for everything we are as a band. It was a really big reference point for when the band started, of just going from shouting to try to learn to use my voice in a different way. They’re just such an important and influential band, and we wanted to just cover what is one of their biggest songs and have people enjoy it.”

Militarie Gun, who we recently caught opening for Manchester Orchestra, will soon be opening Knocked Loose’s fall tour (alongside Drain and The Garden, and including a few shows with Danny Brown). Ian Shelton’s powerviolence band Regional Justice Center also just released their new album Freedom, Sweet Freedom on Friday.
