Watch Foo Fighters dedicate “My Hero” to Steve Albini

Tons of musicians have been paying tribute to Steve Albini following the indie rock icon’s recent death at the age of 61. Dave Grohl, who worked with Albini on Nirvana‘s In Utero, hadn’t shared a message on social media, but he dedicated “My Hero” to Albini at Foo Fighters’ Thursday night (5/9) show in Charlotte.

“Tonight I’d like to dedicate this song to a friend that we lost the other day, who I’ve known a long, long time,” Grohl said, introducing the song. “He left us much too soon. He’s touched all of your lives, I’m sure. I’m talking about Steve Albini. For those of you who know, you know. For those of you who don’t know, just remember that name: Steve Albini. Let’s sing this one for him.”

Thurston Moore, PJ Harvey, Pixies, Superchunk, Wedding Present, Cloud Nothings, and Breeders are among the numerous musicians who have paid tribute to Albini.
