Vladimir Ivkovic and Ivan Smagghe announce compilation of '90s and '00s IDM cuts
The 18-track collection looks back to a period of time when Smagghe and Ivkovic were both working in record stores, listening to indie and electronic music. Thusly, IDMMEMO straddles both worlds, including tracks by Slowdive, Spiritualized, Chapterhouse remixed by Global Communication, David Moufang (Move D), Amir Abadi and Jonas Grossmann’s short-lived ambient venture, I.F., The Black Dog and plenty more.
The press release refers to the collection as “anti-archive” and dictated by emotion, with “more pads than glitches.” The collection loosely looks over a rich period of IDM and ambient dance music, combining rarities from the likes of Zugzwwang with favourites like Autechre‘s remix of Seefeel and Aphex Twin‘s Polygon Window version for Soft Ballet.
It’ll come out as a joint effort between Ivkovic’s Offen Music, Smagghe and Leon Oakey’s Les Disques De La Mort and Above Board Projects.
