Vanity Press Records founder David Marroquin wanted for aggravated domestic violence charge
The founder of Vanity Press Records David Marroquin is wanted on a charge of aggravated domestic violence.
Marroquin’s girlfriend Molly De Wind posted from the Vanity Press Records Twitter account on Tuesday, September 1st, saying she was assaulted by Marroquin last month. The tweet reads: “Hi, I’m Molly De Wind, Dave’s mysterious girlfriend. Three weeks ago your friend Dave beat me so bad that I had to get reconstructive surgery on my cheek and nose and I’ll never look the same.”

De Wind also tweeted from the label account that there was a “domestic violence [arrest] warrant” out on Marroquin. Public records from Michigan’s 15th Judicial District Court in Ann Arbor (available via the Michigan courts website) show that Marroquin was charged with “domestic violence – aggravated” on August 6th for an incident that happened on the 5th.
De Wind later confirmed via a producer that she is safe and wanted to “let people know that Dave is dangerous, and if you see him you should call the police, there’s a warrant for his arrest.”
Since De Wind went public, there have been multiple accusations of exploitation, unfulfilled orders and financial misconduct levied against Marroquin on Twitter. Artists who’ve released on the label, including Martyn Bootyspoon, Lars, Juana and AceMo, have been voicing their support with De Wind and saying they’re looking to remove their work from the Vanity Press Records Bandcamp Page. Some are explicitly asking people to not buy their Vanity Press releases on Bandcamp, but to instead Venmo De Wind as she is currently unable to work.
please do not buy my 2017 record on @vanitypressrecs , the owner of the label is extremely physically abusive & manipulative. Molly, who was abused by Dave needed face surgery after an attack by him. she cannot work. She needs financial help, her Venmo is @ Molly-Dewind (2084)

+ if you want my release from this sub label please just venmo her money and send the receipt, he’s already voided the contract by not following up with accounting info https://t.co/y8bloUSqC7
