Unsound finalizes 2020 digital program with MAZEUM collaboration
The free ten-day digital festival with a focus on discourse running under the theme Intermission, has added talks with Kode9 & Lawrence Lek, Chris Watson & Kristen Gallerneaux and DeForrest Brown Jr. (AKA Speaker Music) and James Hoff. Festival partners Nyege Nyege will present a performance from Kalalu Traditional Troupe and broadcast a performance by HHY & The Kampala Unit from Unsound’s 2019 festival in addition to the already revealed collaborative performance by Miłosz Pękala & Hubert Zemle of material by Jlin.
Unsound is also partnering with the MAZEUM festival crew to share performances by Fuyuki Yamakawa, Killer-Bong, KOM_I, Mahi To The People and Utena Kobayashi. Another Zoom workshop has been added to the program, too; this one’s a queerdance workshop led by Rafał Pierzyński and soundtrack by Facheroia.
Unsound 2020 starts this evening, 6 PM CEST, with a Nicolás Jaar-curated improvisational performance called Weaving, cohosted by Resident Advisor, also an Unsound 2020 partner. The lineup features the likes of Ka Baird, Laraaji, Juliana Huxtable, Aho Ssan, Dirar Kalash and Paweł Szamburski, as well as Jaar himself.
Tomorrow night, Friday, October 2nd, RA will also cohost a discussion titled Another Angle: Imagining Future Forms Of Music Media , led by RA‘s Maya-Róisín Slater. It begins at 7 PM CEST and is free to join. RA cohosted a panel with Unsound this past August discussing LGBTQIA+ rights in Poland.
