United Sounds Saturday pics (The Dismemberment Plan, Model/Actriz, Sunflower Bean, more)
New NYC festival United Sounds held its inaugural edition at Pioneer Works over the weekend, and things kicked off on Saturday (10/26) with sets from The Dismemberment Plan, Sunflower Bean, Model/Actriz, Rocket, and Slow Fiction. See pictures from the whole day by Dimitry Mak below.
For Dismemberment Plan, it was the final date of a short tour celebrating the 25th anniversary of Emergency & I, and their first NYC show in a decade. Spin writes:
Later, in a moment of pure, joyous nostalgia, everyone but Easley moved their instruments onto the floor of the venue for “The Ice of Boston,” which has long been an audience participation-heavy part of the set since the Plan’s earliest club show days. Although Morrison and Caddell are not currently active in music, they slipped easily back into the energy and showmanship of bygone days, prompting speculation as to whether they really will take another long break from performing
Meanwhile, Model/Actriz just announced another NYC show, their 2024 “A Very Model/Actriz Chrismukkah party,” which happens at TV Eye on December 4 with Mary in the Junkyard and Magdalene. Tickets go on sale Friday, November 1 at 10 AM EST, and $1 from each goes to UNRWA.
