Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross, Daniel Blumberg (ex-Yuck), Bryce Dessner, Kneecap, more make 2025 Oscars music shortlists

The 2025 Oscar nominations won’t be announced until January 17, but for some categories there is a shortlist of potentials from which the five nominees will be chosen. Those were announced today, and among them are both major music Oscars, Original Score and Original Song.

The shortlist for Original Score includes Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross for Challengers, former Yuck frontman Daniel Blumberg for The Brutalist, Bryce Dessner for Sing Sing, and Hanz Zimmer for Blitz.

The Original Song longlist includes Kneecap‘s “Sick in the Head” from Kneecap, Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross‘ “Compress / Repress” from Challengers, Robbie Williams‘ “Forbidden Road” from his weird biopic Better Man, Maren Morris‘ “Kiss the Sky” from Wild Robot, Kristen Wiig‘s “Harper and Will Go West” from Will & Harper, Pharrell Williams & Princess Anne High School Fabulous Marching Cavaliers‘ “Piece by Piece” from Piece by Piece, and more.
