SEUN KUTI & EGYPT 80
Afrobeat greats Seun Kuti & Egypt 80 are on tour in the US this summer and stops include LA’s Hollywood Bowl Jazz Festival on June 16 ,and a free NYC show in Prospect Park on July 13 as part of the BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! Festival that’s also with Lollise, Rich Medina, IAM LOVE.
SUPER AMERICAN / SYDNEY SPRAGUE / SUMMERBRUISE
Buffalo emo/pop-punk band Super American have announced a summer tour which is presented by Emo Night Brooklyn and also features Sydney Sprague and Summerbruise. It has them hitting most major North American cities in August and September, including an NYC stop at Knitting Factory at Baker Falls on August 8.
BLIND GIRLS / HEAVENLY BLUE
Australian screamo band Blind Girls have announced a summer US tour, about half of which has support from Michigan screamo band Heavenly Blue.
MARC RIBOT QUARTET FT MARY HALVORSON
Marc Ribot, who just celebrated his 70th birthday, will be heading out with his quartet — rounded out by guitarist Mary Halvorson, bassist Hilliard Green and drummer Chad Taylor — in September, with stops in Portland, San Francisco (SF Jazz Fest with James Brandon Lewis), Santa Cruz, Kirkland, Albuquerque, and Austin. DEEP IN THE VALLEY FEST (STEVE GUNN & MORE)
Deep in the Valley fest returns to the Hudson Valley for a second year on August 10 at From the Ground Brewery in Red Hook, NY. This year’s performers are Steve Gunn & David Moore, Sunburned Hand of the Man, Trummors, Jeffrey Alexander & The Heavy Lidders, The Smashing Times, Sean Thompson’s Weird Ears, Bong Wish, Magic Tuber Stringband. There’s also a warm-up show the night before (8/9) at Tubby’s Kingston with Oneida, Jeffrey Alexander (& The Heavy Lidders), and Vague Plot.

LOLLAPALOOZA 2024
Lollapalooza returns to Chicago’s Grant Park on August 1-4, and they’ve revealed this year’s set times.
LE GUESS WHO? 2024
Netherlands festival Le Guess Who? will hold its 2024 edition on November 7-10 in Utrecht. As usual, they have invited a number of artists to be guest curators, and this year those are Arooj Aftab, Bo Ningen, Crystallmess, DARKSIDE, Mabe Fratti and Touching Bass. Check out the initial lineup here.
MARCOS VALLE
Brazillian bossa nova and samba icon Marcos Valle — who has been making music since the ’60s and had a moment in the US in 2014 when his 1983 single “Estrellar” was used in a Southern Comfort commercial that aired constantly during the World Cup — will be on tour this fall starting September 17 in Los Angeles. Dates currently wrap up on October 10 in Miami, and include an NYC show at soon-to-open roller-rink/venue Xanadu on October 8.
COLD WAVES FESTIVAL 2024
The 2024 edition of Chicago’s gothy/industrial Cold Waves festival happens September 27-29 at Metro with Drab Majesty, Clan of Xymox, A-Split-Second, and more.
CLAN OF XYMOX
Dutch 4AD vets Clan of Xymox will be touring around Cold Waves (and playing Brooklyn’s new roller-rink/club, Xanadu).
