CHIODOS / HAWTHORNE HEIGHTS / EMMURE / THE CALLOUS DAOBOYS
Post-hardcore vets Chiodos have announced a spring 2025 tour celebrating the 20th anniversary of All’s Well That Ends Well, with Hawthorne Heights, Emmure and The Callous Daoboys along for the ride. The NYC stop is Webster Hall on April 21.
LANKUM
Dark, atmosphere Irish folk group Lankum are in Brooklyn this weekend, playing Greenpoint club Warsaw on Friday and Saturday with John Francis Flynn. The band will be back in the States for 2025 West Coast shows in San Francisco (Great American Music Hall on February 27) and Los Angeles (The Belasco on February 28). That’s it for North America, but they have other international dates.
WELCOME TO ROCKVILLE
Welcome to Rockville is announcing its 2025 lineup in drips and drabs. New additions: Stage 5 on Saturday will have Whitechapel, All Shall Perish, Attila, After the Burial, Emmure, Brand of Sacrifice, Upon a Burning Body, and Angelmaker, and Sunday will have Power Trip, Sunami, Pain of Truth, 200 Stab Sounds, Peeling Flesh, Bodybox, Big Ass Truck, and Mugshot.
INTERPOL TOUR OPENERS
Interpol have announced more of the opening acts on their upcoming Antics anniversary tour.
PAPA ROACH RISE AGAINST / UNDEROATH
Every now and then you see a tour announcement that makes you do a double take, and here’s one: alt-metal hitmakers Papa Roach and punk workhorses Rise Against are doing a co-headlining tour, with support from metalcore staples Underoath.
VOMIT FORTH / NO CURE / CEMENTED IN FEAR
Three very heavy bands that exist within the hardcore and death metal orbits, Vomit Forth, No Cure, and Cemented In Fear, will do a Northeast tour together this December.
ELDER ‘LORE’ 10TH ANNIVERSARY TOUR
Proggy hard rockers Elder will celebrate the 10th anniversary of their third album, Lore, on tour in 2025. Dates kick off in Brooklyn on April 3 at The Meadows.
PRIMAVERA SOUND PORTO
Primavera Sound has announced the 2025 lineup for its Porto festival, which happens June 12-15 in Porto, Portugal. It’s a slimmed down version of Primavera Barcelona (and happens the week after), and headliners are Charli XCX, Central Cee, Jamie xx, Beach House, Deftones, Fontaines D.C., Haim, Michael Kiwanuka and Turnstile. KROQ ALMOST ACOUSTIC CHRISTMAS
Los Angeles alt-rock station KROQ has announced this year’s Almost Acoustic Christmas show, which happens December 14 at The Forum. Smashing Pumpkins headline and the rest of the lineup is Beck, 311, Sublime, Jimmy Eat World, Royel Otis, AWOLNATION, The Linda Lindas and BBY.
SUBTERRANEAN DISSONANCE FEST IN PA + AGRICULTURE + RELATED NYC METAL SHOWS
The kickass initial lineup for 2025’s Subterranean Dissonance Fest in Pittsburgh has Thou performing Umbilical, Secret Chiefs 3, Krallice, Deadguy, Young Widows, Agriculture, Pyrrhon (performing Exhaust), Dysrhythmia, The Silver, Scarcity, Idle Heirs, Malevich & more. Tickets are on sale.
For Agriculture, it’s part of a short tour that also includes Brooklyn’s The Meadows on February 6.
Doug Moore bands Scarcity and Pyrrhon, meanwhile, both have NYC gigs coming up soon too: Scarcity play TV Eye on November 20 with Extra Life and Peter Evans, and Pyrrhon play Bushwick Public House on November 23 with Thaetas, Manipulator and Needlepusher.
Fellow Brooklyn metal locals Woe (who are also just >one degree of separation from Pyrrhon/Scarcity) play The Meadows on November 21 with Ruin Lust and Heretic Bodyhammer.
SOBER 21 PARTY W/ TYLER POPE (LCD SOUNDSYSTEM) & SUZI ANALOGUE
LCD Soundsystem’s Tyler Pope and Suzi Analogue will be DJing at day party at Public Records on November 23 which is a Sober 21 party, offering a “substance-free afternoon of music, dance, and community.” Also doing sets: Hanzi and Elia Einhorn.
NYC WINTER JAZZFEST
NYC Winter Jazzfest has added more artists to its 2025 lineup and detailed Makaya McCraven’s four-show residency.
TORTURE
Last month, rising slam sensations Torture dropped off a tour with Undeath after main member K.K.’s touring members left the band. K.K. now says, “new touring members have been sorted out, and our November run with Splitknuckle is still 100% a go.”
