TV ON THE RADIO
After hinting last week, TV on the Radio have announced their first shows in five years.
42 DUGG
Detroit rapper 42 Dugg has announced the 4eva Us, Neva Them tour, which hits 20 cities this fall with Yungeen Ace, Cartier, Audi.Money, & Chicken.P as openers. They’ll stop at NYC Irving Plaza on Octobr 21.
SLOAN
Canadian alt-rock greats Sloan gave their debut album, Smeared, the deluxe box set treatment this year, and to celebrate they’ll be playing it in full at a special Toronto show at The Concert Hall on November 30. This will be the first time they’ve ever played the album front to back. “We won’t be touring this album as we’ve done with previous full-album shows, so, for the moment, this could be the only time we play Smeared in its entirety,” the band say.
NEIL YOUNG / STEPHEN STILLS
Neil Young, Stephen Stills and more will play a benefit concert in California in October with proceeds going to The Painted Turtle and The Bridge School,
ALTPRESS X MARSHALL FRE LOS ANGELES SHOWCASE
Our friends at Alternative Press and Marshall are teaming up for a free show at Los Angeles club Zebulon on September 27 featuring Slow Hollows, King Isis and Recking, with a DJ set by Sam Austins. RSVP here to attend. AltPress and Marshall are presenting a free NYC show, too, at Baby’s All Right on September 13 with Sweet Pill, Taraneh, Dirt Buyer, and a DJ set from Body Meat.
BEST FRIENDS FOREVER 2024
New Las Vegas emo and emo-adjacent festival Best Friends Forever happens on October 11-13 at Downtown Las Vegas Events Center, and they’ve revealed the set times for all three days.
THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN
The Dillinger Escape Plan have been playing a very select few reunion shows with original vocalist Dimitri Minakakis to celebrate the 25th anniversary of their 1999 debut album Calculating Infinity, and they’ve just added a Philly date with an amazing Philly-heavy lineup.
OASIS
While we wait to hear about North American dates, Oasis have added two more Wembley Stadium shows (they’re up to seven).
PUSSY RIOT SIBERIA
Pussy Riot Siberia, the new performance art / noise music / visual art project led by Pussy Riot’s Nadya Tolokonnikova, will play NYC’s Three Dollar Bill on September 25. The show is presented by the Tinnitus Music Series and also features Kelly Moran, Liturgy (special acoustic set), and JD Samson of Le Tigre. That’s just before Pussy Riot Siberia’s appearance at Basilica Soundscape.
MARC RIBOT
Guitarist Marc Ribot will be on tour starting this week. First stop: The Bob Dylan Center in Tulsa is presenting a show on Saturday (9/7) where Marc and Shahzad Ismaily will present “radical reharmonizations” of Dylan songs. The pair will also be out on a fall Songs of Resistance tour, just in time for the upcoming election, including NYC’s Le Poisson Rouge on October 26 with another of Ribot’s projects, Los Cubanos Postizos. He’s also got dates with the Marc Ribot Quartet feating Mary Halvorson, Hilliard Greene, and Chad Taylor, and solo shows where he’ll perform a live score to Chaplin’s The Kid and Yakov Protazanov groundbreaking 1924 sci-fi film Aelita: Queen of Mars.
NEVA DINOVA
Omaha band Neva Dinova will release their first album in 16 years, Canary, later this month, and have announced a few Midwest shows with mysterious openers.
AUTRE NE VEUT
Autre Ne Veut will celebrate his first album in nine years with a NYC release show.
