The Pavement movie getting its US premiere at the 2024 New York Film Festival (lineup)
PAVEMENTS, Alex Ross Perry‘s much-anticipated not-quite-a-documentary Pavement film, will make its US premiere at the 2024 New York Film Festival this fall. That’s after its world premiere at the 2024 Venice Film Festival.
The 2024 New York Film Festival runs September 27–October 14 and this year screenings happen not just at Lincoln Center but also at Alamo Drafthouse Cinema (Staten Island), BAM (Brooklyn Academy of Music) (Brooklyn), The Bronx Museum (Bronx), and the Museum of the Moving Image (Queens). Festival Passes are on sale now with discounts through August 20 and single tickets go on sale September 17 at noon.
PAVEMENTS is showing as part of the NYFF’s Spotlight programming, which includes a few other music-related titles; Pablo Larraín’s Maria where Angelina Jolie plays opera legend Maria Callas; TWST/Things We Said Today, Andrei Ujică’s archival film about The Beatles‘ legendary 1965 Shea Stadium concert; and documentary Elton John: Never Too Late by directors R.J. Cutler and David Furnish.
Pedro Almodóvar’s The Room Next Door is this year’s centerpiece, the opening film is RaMell Ross‘ Nickel Boys, and Steve McQueen‘s Blitz is the closing night film. The main slate includes Sean Baker‘s Cannes Palme d’Or winner Anora, Payal Kapadia‘s All We Imagine as Light (which won Grand Prix at Cannes), Mike Leigh‘s Hard Truths, Paul Schrader‘s Oh, Canada, David Cronenberg‘s The Shrouds, and many more.
Also screening in Spotlight: Luca Guadagnino‘s second film of 2024 (Challengers was the first), Queer, which is based on William S Burroughs’ book of the same name and featues a score by Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross; and Leos Carax‘s It’s Not Me which is his follow-up to Sparks musical Annette; Jessie Eisenberg‘s A Real Pain; and Rumours, the new film by Canadian iconoclast Guy Maddin.
