The dB’s announce ‘Repercussion’ reissue, including first-ever US vinyl release (watch “Neverland” video)

The dB’s reissued their classic debut album, Stands for Decibels, earlier this year and now they’ve announced a reissue of their equally-classic second album, 1982’s Repercussion, which will be out October 18 via Propeller Sound Recordings (pre-order). This marks its first ever official US vinyl release.

Repercussion was the second and last album The dB’s made during their original run with their lineup of Peter Holsapple, Chris Stamey, Gene Holder and Will Rigby, as Stamey would leave the group just a few months after the release of the album. Made with producer Scott Litt (who would go on to produce R.E.M.’s biggest selling albums), Repercussion loaded with classics, including Holsapple’s “Amplifier,” “Living a Lie,” and “Neverland,” and Stamey’s “Ask for Jill,” “Happenstance,” and “From a Window.” You can watch a restored video for “Neverland,” which premieres in this post, below.

The new reissue restores the album’s original track sequencing, and features new liner notes include looks back by members of the band and Scott Litt, plus previously unpublished photos. CD and digital editions include Holsapple’s “pH Factor,” a live-in-the-studio recording that was a bonus track on I.R.S. Records’ 1989 CD reissue.

The lineup of The dB’s that gave us Stands for Decibels and Repercussion will be touring together for the first time in 12 years this fall, including a NYC-area show at White Eagle Hall on September 15 with Mayflies USA opening. The band have added more dates since our last post, including L.A. shows, and all are listed below.
