Texas Is The Reason added to Furnace Fest
NYC emo/post-hardcore vets Texas Is The Reason recently made the very exciting announcement that they’ll be returning for the first time in nearly a decade to play Las Vegas’ Best Friends Forever festival (October 10-12), and now they announced another festival appearance happening shortly before that: Furnace Fest, which is returning to the Sloss Furnaces in Birmingham, Alabama from October 3-5 despite saying the 2024 edition would be an “end of an era” for the festival.
The full lineup is getting announced tomorrow (Friday, 3/14), but so far Furnace Fest has gradually rolled out 25 of its 90 bands, including Norma Jean (celebrating 20 years of O’ God, the Aftermath), Modern Life Is War, Biohazard, Drain, The Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza, Zao (playing Liberate Te Ex Inferis), Haywire, Rolo Tomassi, Citizen, Madball, From First To Last, The Mongoloids, Ten Yard Fight, Contention, Secret World, A Change of Pace, Crush Your Soul, On Broken Wings, Millington, Johnny Booth, Big Ass Truck, Soft Play, Driveways, and Anberlin (with Stephen Christian, playing Never Take Friendship Personal).
Early bird tickets for Furnace Fest are on sale now. Stay tuned for the full lineup.
As mentioned, this latest Texas Is The Reason reunion won’t include guitarist Norman Brannon, who explained in a statement why he’s sitting these shows out. In his place will be John Herguth of singer Garrett Klahn’s band Atlantic/Pacific.
There’s also a new documentary out this week (3/14) about Garrett’s post-Texas Is The Reason band The New Rising Sons.
