Taipei club Pawnshop celebrates first anniversary this weekend

Taipei club Pawnshop is celebrating its first birthday this weekend.

Two events will take place on Friday and Saturday nights, with the festivities set to continue until 8 AM on Sunday, December 13th. More than 20 local DJs have been booked, including Yoshi Nori, Al Burro, Andy Chiu, Hypolong and Diskonnected, cofounder of beloved local party and podcast Smoke Machine.

As well as the music, there will be massages, drawing classes, fortune telling and face painting in the venue’s chill-out area. Hygiene measures, such as temperature checks at the door and contact tracing, remain in effect.

Earlier this year, Pawnshop voluntarily closed its doors for two months as Taiwan battled the pandemic. Thanks to the country’s successful prevention policies, the club was able to reopen and stay open.

Due to travel restrictions that are still in place, Pawnshop has strengthened its focus on the local scene, counting more than 30 DJs on its roster.

Pawnshop opened in December 2019.
